Cornelio Monge Murillo

Desamparadeño belongs to one of the oldest families residing in the central valley, although a current family tradition pretends that they are originating of France; Descended from the Spanish Felipe Monge, an ensign in Santiago de Salamanca in the early seventeenth century who married Francisca López who already widow tested on October 4, 1629 in Carthage, saying that his estate included "a stay of cattle in the valley of Aserrí ".

In his town Cornelio served as "instrumental witness" to the 2nd Mayor's Office in 1859 where he served as Mayor in the following year, so that he knew something of fine print.
