Laura Chinchilla Miranda

Laura Chinchilla Miranda, was born on March 28, 1959, south of San Jose, in a middle-class family.

It was in the Republic School of Peru where he took his first steps as a student. Then came the secondary school in La Salle College where he began to become interested in social sciences.

Mrs. Laura has dedicated much of her professional life to the public service in Costa Rica. She was the first Minister of Public Security in the country's history. As Deputy, she presided over several Commissions from which he promoted several laws with great impact on citizen participation, efficiency of the public sector, security, crimes against children, domestic violence and the fight against corruption. From May 2006 until October 2008, Dona Laura served as the First Vice President of the Republic. Sixty years after women exercised their right to vote for the first time in Costa Rica, the Presidency of the Republic is assumed by a woman who dreams of a more prosperous, more solidary and ecologically sustainable country.
