Matías Zavaleta Pacheco

Priest, educator and farmer, had a decisive influence for the settlement of the town of Desamparados in 1855 and the creation of the canton in 1862. He arrived as a priest at Desamparados in 1847, dedicated to educational projects, collective work and communal works in Pro of social transformation. He fought Braulio Carrillo in the League War, was sentenced to death and pardoned in 1842.
